They sometimes say “everything old is New again.” It seems that sentiment is coming boldly to life on ABC television next season where Acadamy Award Winner, “Star Trek” icon, and host of “The View” will star as the titular character of Lucy in what the network calls an : “updated re-imagining” of the classic television show “I Love Lucy”. Goldberg is reportedly thrilled with the idea, which is being co-produced by Barack Obama.
The show will center around loveable housewife Lucy and her husband Ricky Ricardo, to be played by musician Ice Cube. Ricky is a burgeoning rap star, whose needs in the industry sometimes frustrate his harrowed wife to hilarious results. Coupled with the antics of wacky neighbors Fred and Ethel Mertz, (John Leguizamo and Rosie Perez), it’s sure to put smiles on American faces.
Comedienne Wanda Sykes, who will play a new character, Lucy’s transgender therapist told insiders what the lure of the half-hour sitcom will be ;
“I think it really does justice to the spirit of Lucille Ball’s classic character. But with more soul. It might make a few white people mad, you know. Or some of those Trump fingering morons, because Whoopi’s smart enough to call him out on his failure as a President and human being. But that’s okay. This is a show for New America, baby. And New America is young and brown. “
The new “I Love Lucy” is set to debut in February of 2020 at 8 p.m. on ABC. It is planned to lead into the premiere of the all new “Dick Van Dyke” show starring musician 50-Cent.
